Event Details
Join us for an inspiring "Pay It Forward" presentation featuring Madison, a scholarship recipient who traveled to Freising, Germany to attend the Craft Beer Sensorik Seminar at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), hosted by the Department of Brewing & Beverage Technology at the Research Center Weihenstephan. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was made possible with our scholarship partner, Trip's International Educational Beer Trips.
Over the course of an intensive week, Madison trained like a Bavarian brewer, immersing herself in:
- A two-day Sensory Beer Seminar at the historic Weihenstephan Brauerei, earning a TUM Sensorik Certificate
- VIP field trips to the Hallertau hops grading and processing facility in St. Johann, the Bavarian Research Center in Hüll, and the IREKS craft malt facility in Kulmbach
- An exclusive tour and reception at Weihenstephan Brewery
- Hands-on learning alongside TUM brewing university scientists, paired with traditional Bavarian meals and culture
In this session, Madison will share her firsthand experiences from the program, what she learned about beer sensory analysis, hops, and malting, and how she has applied this knowledge since returning home. Whether you're a prospective scholarship applicant, industry professional, or craft beer enthusiast, you won't want to miss Madison's story.
