Sherman Hops Farm began in 2014. They are a very small operation – 1 acre of infrastructure and currently 700 plants, which are split between Brewer’s Gold and Santiam varieties. They use a Hopster 5P for harvesting – built in Rochester, NY, and runs off of the PTO and hydraulics of their tractor. They use a home-built dryer (oast), which dries hops at ambient temperature to preserve as many of the oils as possible. They also bale on site prior to delivery to cold storage.
Please arrive by 1:00pm for a tour of their property. After the tour, they are kindly providing food for us, free of charge. It was requested for attendees to bring lawn chairs if possible, and some beers to share.
