Professional Bio
My name is Yvette De Luna and I am a first Generation Mexican American. Before pursuing a career in the beer industry, I was an Assistant General Manager at a Boba Hookah bar in Los Angeles. I then moved on to be a General Manager at a Cocktail Hookah bar in Hong Kong. After returning to Los Angeles in 2017, I started my journey at Arts District Brewing Company as a barback. Even without having a formal education in beer, within months I worked my way up to bartender, cellar, then soon to assistant brewer.
During the pandemic, I applied at Highland Park Brewery as a barback. I again worked my way up to assisting with packaging, cellaring, and became a brewer once again. My dedication and leadership skills led me to become Lead brewer soon after at both Highland Park Brewery facilities. In addition to brewing, I helped with developing standard operating procedures, working on improving processes, as well as training and mentoring new employees and interns.
Currently Head brewer of Feathered Serpent Brewery in La Puente. I am responsible for managing day-to-day operations. Continuing to brew, I do recipe development, QA/QC to adjust and improve current and future recipes. I do daily monitoring of gravity, pH, temperature, and carbonation per tank. I do weekly schedules on brewing operations and yeast harvesting. I also create standardized SOPs, guides and a beer education class for staff.
For the past year and a half I have been focusing on getting formal education. I got into Brewers Association Mentorship Cohort Spring 2024 and Michael James Jackson Foundation Brewing and Distilling Scholarship Recipient 2024. These two opportunities helped me get a formal education with Master Brewers Academy getting Certificate of Completion 2025 and passing my exam with Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers getting a General Certificate in Brewing 2025.
