International Women's Brew Day

Inspiring Change is the 2014 theme for International Womens Day on March 8th and it’s intent is to encourage advocacy for women’s advancement everywhere in every way. It calls for challenging the status quo for women’s equality and vigilance inspiring positive change.  The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women everywhere. Organizations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.

For the Pink Boots Society, this world wide event features a collaboration brew to take place in individual Brewsters breweries across the world. The event is intended to raise the profile of women in our industry and to acknowledge the growing interest of women enjoying craft beer world wide.  Profits from the brewed beer will be donated to Pink Boots Society and possibly a charity of choice, and whether it be 100% of proceeds or a per pint donation ($1 or $2) is left to the discretion of each brewery.  This will depend on ingredients donated, size of the brewery production, etc.  Our intention is for each participant brewery to craft the same beer across the world on this important day.  If you have an interest in being involved consider this:

The beer:
4% pale session beer with a universally available hop (still to be decided).

EBC: 10
IBU: 25
ABV: 4%
Late hop: Cascade (US/UK/NZ/German)

Imagine your brewery joining in this world wide, monumental opportunity to promote, publicize and support women in the brewing industry!  Please pass this information to anyone of interest in media, brewing, non-brewing or otherwise. This is a great opportunity for us all to celebrate and recognize the advancement of women in our industry and across the globe!
