POSTING TITLE: Ambassador of American Brewing, Cyprus
Dear Teri,
I hope you may be able to assist us...
We are a British family living on the beautiful and hospitable island of Cyprus
in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea where we have developed a new and fully-funded
20hl commercial craft brewery. Brewing in our picturesque converted old winery
near to Paphos city is planned to start in the early springtime of 2012.
The driving force behind our venture has always been our longstanding love of
the superb beers we have tasted during our travels over many years to various
parts of America and our mission is to bring this "New World" twist
on traditional beer styles to the people of Europe.
In addition to the resident population, Cyprus receives over two and a half
million tourists and holiday-makers every year who come from all parts of Europe
and it is our intention that they leave having enjoyed a variety of excellent
locally brewed American-styled craft beers and can return to tell their friends
and family of their experience.
In preparation for this, my 25 year old daughter, Melanie, studied brewing in
the UK and she has worked with a number of British microbreweries. To meet our
style objectives our brewery will require some strong creative input from a
young, energetic and self-motivated American brewer with probably three to five
years all round experience who may like to work in Europe for a short period.
So, without wanting to sound pretentious in any way, we are basically looking
for an "Ambassador of American Brewing" to help us in our mission.
We will provide a competitive salary, travelling expenses, benefits and will
provide suitable independent accommodation. We will organise all necessary working
and residence permits and we could be flexible in working arrangements to allow
blocks of time off for the successful applicant to explore all the cities and
cultural and brewing regions of Europe with low-cost flights to and from Cyprus.
This could be a wonderful all-round experience for a suitable young woman or
young man who is capable of handling the physical duties of brewing and who
looking for a new and exciting challenge.
I note your Society's commitment to education and should add, to establish our
motives in all of this, that I am similarly committed and was awarded the UK's
prestigious National Training Award for mentoring services in youth training
and education which was presented to me at a formal event in London by the British
Prime Minister himself.
This request may seem like it just needs to be placed in a Classifieds section
somewhere but I address this to you at the Pink Boots Society as, ideally, you
or one of your colleagues may know someone suitable that you can recommend to
us. I'm sure you understand that we don't want just anyone but someone who is
more hand-chosen and it is difficult to recruit the right person at such distances.
I await your comments and feedback on this and if you feel you may be able to
help then I can provide more detail as required. Melanie would also be happy
to apply for membership of the Society if this is open to overseas applicants.
In closing, may I wish all at the Pink Boots Society and our brewing cousins
in the USA a very Happy New Year...
Best regards,
Bill
