Favorite Beer Moment

In October 2005 I attended my very first GABF and Maui Brewing Co. received two silver medals. This was only a few short months after the brewery was established and it was amazing to have the opportunity to witness this honor. Then, unbelievably, only a few months later, at the 2006 World Beer Cup, our CoCoNut PorTer received a gold medal!

Former Career

Currently, I still maintain a “day job” outside of the craft brewing world. Suffice to say it’s a “desk job” in corporate America. Former careers have included owning a travel agency and working as a model and actress. My most fulfilling “careers”, have been and continue to be “mom” and “M.O.M.”, however. Although it is the most difficult job in the world, the satisfaction of having raised two children to adulthood, knowing that they have turned out to be wonderful people and that they are happy in their careers, is such an honor. Being “M.O.M.” to Maui Brewing Co. provides me with an exhilarating change of pace where I can interact with others at a level, and on a topic, close to my heart.

Proudest Beer Moment

Seeing our first Cascade hops start sprouting through the ground was something to behold! When we planted those rhizomes they just looked like little dried up sticks. I didn’t hold out much hope for the hops to grow, especially given our climate zone. But, happily, I was wrong! They will be coming back soon for their third season!

Hobbies

I spend most of my free time with my family, especially my husband and two younger children – watching them at their league sports, taking family bike rides and hikes throughout the San Diego area. Of course, I also love visiting our many local, excellent craft breweries! My husband and I also enjoy growing all sorts of fruits and vegetables and of course, home-brewing!
